Happy birthday to me! :) I spent the morning with him today to celebrate my birthday. He made spaghetti for the both of us, and we had cake after that. It’s the second year I’ve had a cake in a really long time… last year’s one was bought for me by some of the class people. There was actually ice cream too, but since he was sick and I was quite full we didn’t eat it. But it’s ok, we can have it next week. :) He bought me this rather big eeyore soft toy because I casually mentioned to him the other day that I wanted something to hug because my piglet was getting flat, but I didn’t mean it as a hint for what I want. I love the eeyore though. :)

It’s a pity he’s on his was to book-in now, otherwise we could have spent more time together. But I know he has already spent whatever time he could with me, despite him being tired and down with flu at the same time. I’m really thankful and appreciative of that. Just hope that he won’t fall sick in the coming week there.

Thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday today as well, you all really made my day. :) Lynn, Jun, Anju, Yong Sian, Joanna, Linda, Pei Ying, Amenda, Hui Yun, Allen, Darren, Lin Lin, Hannah, Hui Yian, Wee Kiang, Qin Ning, Angela and Winnie, Thanks to you guys!

NS

I only got to talk to him just now for what seriously felt like 2 minutes. We didn’t get to talk much at all… it’s really not enough! But what can I do? I don’t think they can charge their phones there (though I hope I’m wrong on that one) and his battery is supposed to last time for 2 weeks. Not to mention that he needs to call home as well… I seriously think it’s impossible for it to last that long… Sigh. It’s only the first day, but it already feels terrible. Is NS really going to be a test of our relationship?

Anyway, since I can’t sleep, here’s what happened today:

I got up at around 8am, met him around 9 plus and together with his mum, we took a long train ride to Pasir Ris. Boarded the bus and a ferry after that, which took us to Pulau Tekong. Soon after reaching, the recruits were separated from the rest. We were taken around to view their living quarters and some facilities while the recruits went to do some admin stuff. We had refreshments after that, and we got to check the name list of the platoon and section assignments. I saw quite a number of familiar names, especially the s15 guys. Saw Allen “marching” off somewhere with another group of new recruits too.

We were brought to the auditorium after that, where there was a video presentation and a speech, followed by the recruits taking an oath and the singing of the national anthem. That was the longest part of the programme, and the time we got a glimpse at the guys, not having seen them from the time we arrived. They joined us (or did we join them?) for lunch at the canteen area… lunch was quite short. Saw Jelvin, who’s in the same platoon as he is. Soon it was time to part… I wish time would not pass so fast, but obviously no one can stop time. It was a long trip home after that, alone for most of the time as his mum went shopping at Tampines. I was tired after not having a good night’s rest last night, but somehow I just couldn’t sleep on the train. It just felt weird… I guess it was a good thing I managed to nap for a while after I reached home, so at least I won’t be thinking about stuff.

But I bet the feeling of missing him will hit strongly when I go to bed later. It’s always like that…

prom

A day after prom, and that feeling that prom is over finally hits me. Right after the As had ended most people were busy meeting up with friends or shopping for prom, and in just a few hours the whole thing was over. Come to think of it, I felt that the atmosphere was a little lacking. Usually for proms you’d want to make people feel as if they’re going to miss their friends and all that, but somehow that feeling wasn’t really strong. Not enough time to take photos, and I couldn’t find some people I wanted to take pictures with among the crowd.

After prom most of the class people who were around headed to the esplanade and took some photos there (someone send those to me!), after which we headed back to the hotel where half of us stayed while the other half went out again to get food. The night wasn’t really eventful. Ruo Xi, Qin Ning, Hui Yian and I were soaking our feet in the bath tub (while making good use of the bath salts provided by the hotel :p ) chatting for a while, while An Qi came in a while later and joined in while sitting on the toilet bowl. ^^ ; Sat around for a while when the rest came back with food for us, and as it was getting brighter outside Hui Yian and I were sitting at the balcony chatting and watching the sky lighten. By that time I think almost all of the others except Ruo Xi and An Qi had fallen asleep.

Just a few hours, and it was time for everyone to get up for breakfast. I left soon after and the rest stayed around for a while more before checking out. So fast and it was all over… in some ways I really wish the night could last longer and we could spend more time together, since it’s rare that we get occasions like these.

Lantern Fun-tasy 2004

I was at the Chinese garden with boy on saturday, where there was a display of these large lanterns. There were 2 themes: Magical Disney Stories and The Legend of Journey to the West. Since it was the weekend it got rather crowded as the night set in, but nevertheless it was nice just to walk around and take in the sights. Plus I haven’t seen him in more than 2 weeks prior to this, so it was great to be able to spend some time together. :) Some photos can be found here.
